“Macaronesian network for the transfer of knowledge and technologies, interregional and multidisciplinary, to protect and monitor cetaceans and the marine environment, as well as analyze and sustainably exploit the associated tourist activity”
The MARCET Network is an initiative born from the MARCET project (MAC/1.1b/149), co-financed through the Territorial Cooperation Program INTERREG VA Spain-Portugal, MAC, 2014-2020, with the idea of bringing together, under a framework agreement , to all those scientific and business entities with areas of common interest in reference to the ecology and health of cetacean populations, operational oceanography and sustainable tourist activity of whale watching in Macaronesia.
The fundamental objective of this MARCET Network is to promote cooperation between these entities by the transfer and exchange of experiences and knowledge, as well as the implementation of research and management programs aimed at conserving the good environmental status of the Macaronesian marine environment and the populations of cetaceans that inhabit it.
